Alphabet Wedgits Ducks from Kid's Stuff and My Favorite Aunt’s

Name: Alphabet Wedgits Rubber Ducks
Interests: Looking at the pyramids and teaching kids their ABCs
Where to Find: Kid’s Stuff and my Favorite Aunt’s (but originally from Winners)

Brand: www.wedgits.com
Price: $6.00 Cdn (second hand)

We know our ABCs.

My mom works in a second hand clothing store that sells children’s clothes, women’s clothes, home decor and toys. My mom has become my personal shopper for clothes and rubber ducks. I was quite excited when she brought me home the weewedgimals. They are made of phthalate-free-vinyl. The packaging spells ducky “duckee.” I guess they are trying to be different. They have square pedestals on their bottoms and you can purchase little blocks for them to sit on. I don't own any of the blocks but they're available from their website.

I have 4 Alphabet Wedgit rubber ducks and they are A, B, C, and D. D is not shown in the above picture but he looks the same as the others except he has a letter D on him. Each duck has a white, green, yellow, navy and red striped pyramid on his head. A lowercase letter is shown on the tail and an uppercase letter on the chest. Each duck has a red bill and cute chubby cheeks. I like these rubber ducks and my daughter loves playing with them too.

Blue Batty Eyes from Dollar Giant

Name: Blue Batty Eyes Ducky
Interests: Collecting coins and riding horses
Where to Find: Dollar Giant at South Park
Brand: Greenbrier International, Inc
Price: $1.25 Cdn

Help me get out of this net.

I love shopping at Dollar stores and today I went to Dollar Giant for the first time. I managed to find two more rubber ducks that I don’t have. I own this duck in yellow but not in green or blue. These two new rubber ducks brings my collection to 604 rubber ducks.

Blue Batty Eyes Ducky is an Ernie lookalike rubber duck. She has nice eye lashes that stick out to the sides and make her look like she is smiling.

Zombie Rubber Duck from Edmonton

Name: Zombie Ducky
Interests: Popping out my pupil-less eyes at people
Where to Find: Vending Machine at Cineplex Odeon North Edmonton
Brand: Eye Poppers by Krazy Town
Price: $2.00 Cdn

I can still see you.

Anytime a collector of anything hears “collect all...” she is usually enticed to collect the entire set. This was how I felt at Cineplex Odoen on the Northside. I was there to see The Hunger Games and I spotted a ducky vending machine. This is the third ducky vending machine that I have seen in Edmonton. I waited in line at the concession for 10 minutes to try to get change for toonies. However, they didn’t have any. Don’t waste your time. Go straight to the box office for change. Anyway, I purchased 9 duckies and 3 of them were repeats, but I ended up with 6 of the 11. Not bad.

Zombie Ducky was the third duck that shot out of the vending machine. He is squishy, has no pupils, has a pink bill and the outline of an X-Ray on his chest. Stay tuned to learn about the other Eye Popper ducks.

Decor 1 Ducky from Venice

Name: Decor 1 Ducky
Interests: Walking the streets of Venice
Where to Find: Store in Venice (since it’s such a maze, I wouldn’t be able to direct you)
Brand: Bud

Price: $5.00 Cdn

I love gondolas

It rained when we were in Venice so we didn’t go for a Gondola ride. We also couldn’t afford to go for one.

Decor 1 Duck reminded me of Pussy willows in an autumn breeze, so I just had to have her. She is just as down to earth as DayDreamer only she’s bit more practical. Being a decor duck means she’s stuck inside most days. She has white and brown branches that sweep across her body.

DayDreamer Ducky from Venice, Italy

Name: DayDreamer Ducky
Interests: Eating pasta, gelato and drinking fine wine
Where to Find: Store in Venice (since it’s such a maze, I wouldn’t be able to direct you)
Brand: Bud
Price: $5.00 Cdn

I floated down the street.

In October 2009, my husband and I took a train from our homestay in Lake Garda to Venice for the day (the luxury of short train trips in Europe). While  licking gelato and wandering the streets of Venice in the rain, we stumbled upon something unexpected-a store that sells shoes and rubber ducks.

There were so many Bud ducks to choose from, but I chose DayDreamer and Decor 1 Duck. DayDreamer is sky blue and down to earth. She has hearts, dragonflies, butterflies and ladybugs on branches all over her body. Therefore, it was only fitting that I take her picture outside.

My husband could probably direct you back to the rubber duck store in Venice. We left our umbrella in the store and he ran back and got it while I purchased sandwiches for our train ride back to Lake Garda.

Cupcake Canard Rubber Ducky from Zydeco Gifts

Name: Cupcake Canard Rubber Ducky
Interests: Baking delicious cupcakes with the richest, creamiest, fattiest frosting.
Where to Find: Zydeco Gifts in Victoria
Brand: http://www.celebriducks.com/index.php/canardland/about-carnard-land/
Price: $14.98 Cdn

Want a bite?

Cupcake Canard is not actually my rubber ducky. He belongs to my daughter. Her Grandma and Pepere who live in BC (a few hours from Victoria) bought it for her when she was born.

I know I said I wasn’t a fan of CelbriDucks but I love the Canard line of Celebriducks. The following duck are also part of the Canard line: Cabernet Canard, Cocoa Canard, and Cafe Canard. I want these other three. Would anyone like to donate to my collection? Does anyone else own Celebriducks? I would love to hear from duck collectors and non-duck collectors.

Cupcake Canard is light pink. Her tongue is licking her beak and this is the first rubber duck that I have every seen doing that. She is armed with a spatula in her left hand and has just finished icing the decadent chocolate cupcake in her right hand. She is a first edition and was created in October 2010.

B. Duck Cell Phone Charm Ducky from the Hong Kong Airport

Name: B. Duck Cell Phone Charm Ducky
Interests: Eating airport food because it’s the best-especially the noodle dishes
Where to Find: Store in the Hong Kong Airport
Brand: B. Duck
Price: $2.00 Cdn

Hip for you.

The last country my husband and I visited while we were travelling around the world was the Philippines. On our way to the Philippines, we had a couple hour layover at the Hong Kong airport on Dec 19, 2009. We wished we had more time in Hong Kong because the local cuisine at the airport was enough to entice us to want to stay longer. I also found a ton of rubber ducks! I controlled myself and only bought 3.

B. Duck Cell Phone Charm Ducky has never actually been attached to my cell phone. He is way too large for that. He has a cute chubby head and animated cartoon eyes. His little blue scarf around his neck makes him look ultra chic. His white T-shirt has a large B on it and he looks like he is putting his hands in his imaginary pockets.

Alice in Wonderland Celebriduck Rubber Ducky

Name: Alice in Wonderland Celebriduck Rubber Ducky
Interests: Drinking tea and hanging out with the Mad Hatter.
Where to Find: Chicken Scratch
Brand: http://www.celebriducks.com/shop/celebrityducks.htm
Price: $14.49 Cdn

Is my chin too pointy?

I suppose there are a few positive things about Celebriducks. They are made out of a safe non-toxic vinyl and they do float nicely in your tub. There are a few rubber ducks on their website that I like. For example, I would love to add Quilting Duckie and Cheese Quacker to my collection (since these guys actually look like rubber ducks). If you buy rubber ducks off the website they are $11.99 US each plus shipping.

Alice in Wonderland Celebriduck Rubber Ducky is actually rather creepy looking. According to her bottom she is a “First Edition.” Whereas, Mr. T is a “Fourth Edition.” She is all pink and has human eyebrows. She is holding a cup of tea in her right hand and the White Rabbit in her left. The Cheshire Cat is on her right shoulder but I don’t think it really looks like him. The peach stripes are too faded. The pink bow in her hair is a nice added touch.

Mr. T CelebriDuck from Bang On

Name: Mr. T Celebriduck Rubber Ducky
Interests: Looking rough
Where to Find: Bang-On
Brand: http://www.celebriducks.com/shop/celebrityducks.htm
Price: $15.00 Cdn

Chilling on the Avenue

I am not even sure if you can call celebrity Celebriducks a rubber duck or not. Personally I am not a fan of rubber ducks that are so done up they don’t even look like a rubber ducky anymore. I’ve seen a few cat and dog rubber ducks, but I don’t own many of these style of rubber ducks. You can only tell a celebrity Celebriduck is a rubber duck because it has a beak instead of a human looking nose.
I also think Celebriducks are extremely overpriced compared to other rubber ducks. They are $15.00 each. Great mark up for the company. I am sure these rubber ducks only cost $2.00 to produce.

My husband’s aunt and cousin bought me Mr. T from the store on Whyte Ave where you can design your own T-Shirts-Bang-On. Don’t get me wrong. I do appreciate that they bought me this rubber duck and I am happy to have this “limited edition” in my collection. However, celebrity Celebriducks just aren’t my favorite style of rubber ducky.

Chubby Ducky from Greenwoods' Bookshoppe

Name: Chubby Ducky
Interests: Reading
Where to Find: Greenwoods’ BookShoppe
Brand: Tolo
Price: $4.95 Cdn

I like to stick my beak in a good book.

My husband’s uncle works at Greenwoods’ BookShoppe in Edmonton. They have a great selection of books (especially kid’s books). We were in one Saturday for a visit and found this rubber duck for my daughter. Due to its chubby and large size, it’s easy for my daughter to pick him up.

Chubby Ducky looks like a regular rubber duck except that his head is squished. Due to his wide head, his eyes are super far apart.

Burn Rubba Ducktona Rubba Ducky

Name: Burn Rubba Ducktona Rubba Ducky
Interests: Racing on my motorcycle
Where to Find: Check the website for retailers near you.
Brand: www.rubbaducks.com
Price: $9.95 Cdn

Faster than fire

Rubba Ducks are so clever. The characters and names are trademarks of BOLDT. My husband has already had his motorcycle out twice this Spring (that is pretty good for Edmonton). My helmet is shown in this picture. I just added the rubber duck sticker this week. However, I won’t be out on the bike until at least May or June. I find it too cold because I don’t have a heated jacket like my husband does.

Ducktona Rubba Ducky was hatched on April 04. He has a helmet on his head which is custom built to fit his beak. He has 01 on his wings as well as flames. The Rubba Ducks logo is on the front of his helmet and he has a black and white checkered flag on his bum. The only detail missing is something on the back of his helmet.

Poem from his tag:

“Love and racing go hand in hand.
It’s a way of life for the crew and fans.

He’s a positive addition
to the duck race tradition:
sponsor driven and community given...
it’s a win, win, win.

A real funraiser!”

Jumbo Ducky

Name: Jumbo Ducky
Interests: Being ridden
Where to Find: Don't remember
Brand: Toysmith (8 inch bath duck)
Price: $10.95 Cdn

The perfect size for a 2 month old.

Since today is the first day of Spring, I decided to pick Jumbo Ducky as the duck of the day. This photo was taken when my daughter was only 2 months old and she will be 1 in 2 weeks. This duck resides on the edge of our bath tub and floats nicely in our oversized tub. My daughter often picks this duck to join her in the tub.

Jumbo Ducky has been in my collection for quite some time and I only know the price because the sticker was still on the bottom. I can't remember where I bought the duck from. Jumbo Ducky has great big eyes and his beak is parted just enough to look like he is smiling a nice welcome Spring smile.

Drain Cover Ducky from The Tin Box

Name: Drain Cover Ducky
Interests: Hanging around, swimming
Where to Find: The Tin Box on Whyte Avenue
Brand: Bud
Price: $6.00 Cdn

Put a plug in it

My husband purchased this duck for me on January 12, 2012 while he was shopping on Whyte Ave with our daughter and his mother. This bright green Bud duck drain cover plugs most bathroom sink drains. This duck isn't actually made of rubber. It is made of plastic and is painted white with an orange beak. His head moves up and down.

The Tin Box on Whyte Avenue usually has a bit of rubber duck paraphernalia. However, the Canmore location doesn't have many rubber duckies. My rubber ducky bath tub stopper with a metal chain and separate stopper is also from The Tin Box.

Blue and Green Speckled Ducky from Bath and Body Works

Name: Blue and Green Speckled Ducky
Interests:  Singing in the tub
Where to Find:  Bath and Body Works
Brand:  Bath and Body Works
Price:  $4.00 Cdn (purchased in 2010)

Speckled like an Easter Egg

This ducky is a bit different from the other Bath and Body Works ducks because he only has 2 eyelashes on each eye instead of the standard 5. His wings and beak are shiny green. He has also a nice buffed sheen to him. I purchased him before the prices went up to $5.00 a duck. These ducks are still $0.50 cents cheaper to buy in the US instead of Canada (even though our dollar with the US has been on par for a long time). I used to buy these ducks when I was on business trips in the U.S.

4 Leaf Clover Patch Ducky

Name: 4 Leaf Clover Patch Ducky
Interests: Searching for 4 leaf clovers
Where to Find: Chicken Scratch
Brand: Unknown
Price: $1.99 Cdn

Wear green for St. Patty's Day

As 4 Leaf Clover Patch Ducky says, I hope you're wearing green for St. Patrick's Day today. I am and so is my daughter and husband. Since green is my favorite colour, I am a fan of St. Patrick's Day. Have a green pint for 4 Leaf Clover Ducky today and bring yourself some luck. I remember drinking green milk in Elementary School.

I bought 4 Leaf Clover Patch Ducky a few years ago from Chicken Scratch on Whyte Avenue. He is covered in 4 leaf clovers and is a mini duck. He is always looking up and is about to catch a fish in his beak. You'll see his camo brothers and sisters in future posts. he sits on a glass shelf in my bathroom above the toilet.

Flirty Flower Rubber Ducky from Bath and Body Works

Name: Flirty Flower Rubber Ducky
Interests: Batting my eyelashes
Where to Find: Bath and Body Works at South Common
Brand: Bath and Body Works
Price: $5.00 Cdn (purchased in 2011)

I look similar to Ernie’s rubber ducky

I often pop into the Bath and Body Works or other soap stores to hunt for rubber ducks. A few times a year, the Bath and Body works has various rubber ducks in stock. I have also seen people with reusable rubber ducky shopping bags from Bath and Body Works. They are available during sales, but I never manage to catch the sale. Please let me know if you hear about their next sale. I really want to get a reusable ducky shopping bag.

Flirty Flower Rubber Ducky has mascared eye lashes that are thick and flirty. Upon making eye contact with her, you expect her to blink or daintily bat her eyelashes at you. Her body is a shiny pearlescense and she has pink, orange and green flowers all over her body. Her beak is a bright neon orange and is one of the brightest rubber ducky beaks I have seen.

Soap Rubber Duck from Maple Ridge

Name: Soap Rubber Ducky
Interests: Cleaning people
Where to Find: Just Ducky
Brand: Ganz
Price: $3.99 Cdn
I love melting away in a warm bath.

Soap Rubber ducky is also from the store Just Ducky in Maple Ridge B.C. I was impressed by the price of this rubber ducky soap because I  have seen this exact ducky soap for $9.99 and I refused to buy it at that price.

Soap Rubber Ducky is available in white or yellow. I already have yellow rubber ducky soap, so I decided to buy the white one. This is the most detailed rubber ducky soap that I have ever purchased. It has an orange beak, blue and black eyes, a tuft of hair and wing detailing. Unless you feel this rubber ducky, you would never know it's not made of rubber.

Rosey Wings Rubber Duck from Maple Ridge

Name: Rosey Wings Rubber Ducky
Interests: Laying around being lazy.
Where to Find: Just Ducky
Brand: Schylling
Price: $3.99 Cdn

Just ducking around.

I bought this rubber ducky while visiting my brother, his wife and their four kids. My brother is a real estate agent and discovered the store Just Ducky while he was showing a house. It's a toy store for kids and they have puzzles, princess outfits, finger puppets, and games.

Rosey Wings Rubber Ducky is my 597th rubber ducky. He is your basic rubber ducky but things to note include his blushing wings, the longer than usual double whites of his eyes and the tuft of hair on top of his head.

Grow and Stretch Rubber Ducky from Banff

Name: Grow and Stretch Rubber Ducky
Interests: Expanding and shrinking
Where to Find: Duck, Duck Moose
Brand: Unknown
Price: $1.99 Cdn

I wish I was a little bit taller.
Duck, Duck Moose had a plastic ducky that swims in the bath and they also had shower caps. I got the last Grow and Strech Rubber Ducky and the last Inner Tube Rubber Ducky too.

I have a super tiny grow and stretch rubber ducky but this is the biggest one that I have seen. It expands to 3 times its size but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I guess I can't really call this ducky a rubber ducky because it's made of some kind of stretchy material.

Inner Tube Rubber Ducky From Banff

Name: Inner Tube Rubber Ducky
Interests: Floating in hot tubs and bubble baths
Where to Find: Duck, Duck Moose
Brand: Unknown
Price: $3.99 Cdn

Which one of these is not like the other ones?

Banff has an even cooler ducky store than Canmore. It’s called Duck, Duck, Moose and has a really cool logo. The store is located on the downtown shopping strip. I purchased two rubber ducks and a rubber ducky shower cap too.
Tubing rubber ducky is not your typical rubber duck. He has arms and legs and looks more like a chicken to me than a rubber ducky because he doesn’t have wings. He has a green inner tube with blue polka dots around his waist too. I haven’t had a chance to get him in the tub yet but he probably floats well.

Sheriff Ducky From Canmore

Name: Sheriff Ducky
Interests: Spinning my pin, keeping peace all through my town
Where to Find: Hijinx toy shop in Canmore
Brand: Unknown
Price: $3.99 Cdn

Moose Mounty and the Sheriff

Sheriff Ducky is the same brand and style as Cowgirl Ducky. He has a white cowoby hat, white vest and a blue bandana tied around his neck. He is also sporting a Sheriff badge. He is also from the toy shop in Canmore. In addition to this rubber duck the toy store had light up rubber ducks and teething rubber ducksy in pink, blue or yellow. My daughter has the teething rubber ducky.

Rubber Ducky Piggy Bank from Canmore

Name: Piggly Wiggly Ducky
Interests: Collecting toonies and loonies
Where to Find: Hijinx toy shop in Canmore
Brand:
Price: $7.99 Cdn
I can hold many toonies.

My husband, daughter and I were in Canmore last weekend for my friend Lynette's annual Ski and Fondue Party. We didn't go skiing but we did hike and see a frozen waterfall. We also went duck hunting. I bought 3 new rubber ducks and some other ducky paraphernalia. Once I have blogged about quite a few of my rubber ducks, I will start to cover some of my other ducky paraphernalia.

I found Piggly Wiggly Ducky in the Canmore toy store. He also comes in yellow too. I tend to have enough yellow rubber duckies though so it's nice to pick a different colour. He has a felt green scarf on and blue dotted eyes. It's easy to take his plug out and get your change back. I think he would hold at least 8 toonies. This is the first ducky piggy bank I have seen that is actually made of rubber. Very cool.

Duckee Hill Rubba Ducky

Name: Duckee Hill Rubba Ducky
Interests: Mauve, mauve and more mauve
Where to Find: Used to be at Toys R Us
Brand: http://www.rubbaducks.com/
Price: $9.95 Cdn

Nothing like warming your tail in front of the fire

Part of what makes any collection collectible is the time limits and limited editions. Some Rubba Ducks have already been discontinued. As soon as something is discontinued, the price is jacked. I'll have to check my list and see how many Rubba Ducks I have in total and how much each one is worth.

Each Rubba Duck has a hatch date and Duckee Hill was hatched on December 04, 2003. She has hair that is the perfect length for sticking out from under her toque. Her tail sports a picture of her white skis and she even has purple eye shadow on to match her outfit. She is also wearing mitts, a neck warmer and a zippered down vest. She is definitely not a chalet bunny. You may also want to check out her boyfriend.

Poem from tag:

"To start from the top
we grab the tow.

Don't worry about the hill,
we will take it slow.

Practice makes perfect,
then before you know -
it's off to the chairlift
you're skiing like a pro."

Double Diamond Duck Slope Rubba Ducky

Name: Double Diamond Duck Slope Rubba Ducky
Interests: Skiing of course
Where to Find: Used to be at Toys R Us
Brand: http://www.rubbaducks.com/
Price: $9.95 Cdn

Baby Blue for you

Quite a few years ago, I started collecting these rather expensive rubber ducks called Rubba Ducks. I bought my first Rubba duck at a Christmas store on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. It is no longer there. I was able to find these rubber ducks in Toys R Us in the United States in 2005 but I don't think Toys R Us carries them anymore. I became so addicted to this collection that I ordered quite a few of them from the website but then I had to pay an astronomical amount of duty on the ducks and they were shipped via UPS.

I have 3 Rubber Maid bins of Rubba Ducks and most of them are in their original packaging too. What is really neat about Rubba Ducks is that each one comes with its own tag and poem. Each Rubba Duck also has an interesting graphic on his or her bottom that matches his or her peronality too. I also forgot that there are quite a few Rubba Ducks with hair. Unlike Celbriducks, Rubba Ducks still look like rubber ducks.

Double Diamond Duck Slope Rubba Ducky is wearing his favorite colour-powder blue. His tail sports the double diamond symbol. The details are so matchy that even his eyes match his outfit. Check back tomorrow to meet his girlfriend.

Poem from his tag:

"There comes a peak
in every mountain steep
that a skier will seek
and is bound to defeat.

Weather condition is bleak,
numbers up, time to compete;
stand for no spills or hear of a shriek
goggles on, grip pole.
bend and leap."
