Gumball Ducky has hard crunchy tiny candies in her Gumball machine. They dispense a couple at a time. She also detaches from the top of the candy dispenser. She has a cute little swoop of hair on the top of her head, tiny black eyes and an orange beak.

Project Manager Ducky works for a construction company and he is one of the 4 construction duckies in the set. I just found him at the bottom of one of my ducky bins. We really need to finish the basement so I can have all my duckies out in a dust free environment. Project Manager Ducky creates the best schedules and his crew is always on time for completing jobs (despite weather conditions) so he is highly sought after in his field. He also has his PMP (Project Management Professional).

Project Manager Ducky has his pen in one hand and his clipboard in the other. He is serious and means business. He also enjoys giving orders.

The first one is always special.

This is my 200th post, so I had to pick an extra special ducky! Surprisingly, I received my first rubber ducky in grade 8. My best friend and I bought each other the same rubber ducky for Christmas (from the Body Shop) and hence our collecting began. I might have had rubber ducks when I was a child but if I did, I didn’t keep any of them with my childhood toys. Everytime, I go to a baby shower, I buy a rubber ducky for the baby. You’re never too young to have a bath with a friendly, smiling rubber ducky.

1st Rubber Ducky is quite small. She is about an inch tall and has a nice shape to her body. Her tail curves up quite high on her back. She is standard rubber ducky yellow and has a standard orange beak that is giving a contagious smile. Her black eyes each have two eyelashes which are curved to make her eyes smile.

1, 2, 3 paddle

While I was in Jasper on the weekend, we visited our favourite place, Horseshoe Lake. The lake was flooded from all the rain and the melting of the glaciers. The owner of the Bed and Breakfast where we stayed said that the lakes and rivers haven’t been this full in Jasper for 30 years.   However, there were still many people cliff diving and a different parts of the lake (since the water was even deeper). We used to cliff dive too until my husband’s friend dislocated his shoulder!

Cop Ducky is cute and friendly looking. He is in an all navy blue uniform which almost covers him from head to toe. You can see his face sticking out and his yellow beak and that is it. He has a ducky badge on his shirt and his hat. He is proud to keep the ducky streets safe all over his city.

I love Athabasca Falls in Jasper!

My husband and I took his motorcycle to Jasper for one night on the weekend. It was my daughter’s first night away from us. She did wake up once in the night asking for us. However, she had a great time with her grandparents. We stayed in a fabulous bed and breakfast and I picked up two new Bud ducks from the toy store in Jasper.

Construction Ducky has a great hard hat. It’s realistic looking with its tiny grooves and little dots on the side for air flow. He is all brown and is wearing a tank top. The only tool in his belt is a hammer. His box says “Going at it hammer and tongs.” However, the tongs are missing from his toolbelt. His box also says “Community Carnival”on the side so I am guessing that he is part of this set.

Rub-a-dubby-scrubby

Bath House Ducky (it is not what you are thinking ) scrubs patient’s backs because she is a nurse. She has a huge scrub brush in her right wing and a lathering pot of bubbles in her left. She has a mauve headband with a bow tied around her head. When I was a kid, mauve was my favourite colour. I was in ballet and I wore a mauve tutu that my mom still has.

Bath House Ducky has bizarre droopy eyes. Her eyelashes are on the sides of her eyeballs.Her peppercorn pupils have sunk to the bottom of her sockets and her eyelids are at an odd angle too, but her eyes are her best feature.

  Never Eat Soggy Wieners

Compass Ducky’s professional name is “Navigation Officer.” He knows his way around a compass. He is currently navigating through a duplo maze in our living room. He is trying to find his way to the toy box.

Compass Ducky is wearing a brown camo military vest and is holding a compass. He also has his “bat hat”on. I call this style of hat a “bat hat” because of an incident at my uncle’s cabin when I was just a child. My parents and my aunt and uncle had gone to the showers while my brother and I stayed at the campfire with my Grandma. We went into the cabin to put on warmer clothes and a bat flew at us! We escaped but without my left yellow velcro runner. My Grandma put her hat on and braved it back into the cabin to rescue my sneaker. Later my uncle and Dad safely rescued the bat from the cabin using my brother’s fishing net and then they set him free.

The Welsh Dragon

Wales Ducky is the second duck that Sandy found for me during her travels. He has the red dragon from the flag of Wales all over his body. There are 8 emblems in total. He is a proud ducky and keeps his neck and head straight. His beak is as red as the dragon. In case you didn't know because I didn't, Wales is a country that is part of the UK and the island of Great Britain.

My Grandma’s niece, Sandy just returned from a vacation to Ireland with her girlfriends. While she was there, I asked her to search for rubber ducks for me (particularly for the other two Irish ducks that I saw in Dublin but did not purchase during our around the world trip). She managed to find 3 Irish rubber ducks for me.  I was most impressed by the Top Hat Ducky that she found.

Sandy walked into her room at the Hastings Hotel and there in the bathroom on the vanity was Top Hat Ducky. He smiled at her, bowed, and tipped his hat. She collected his brother from her friend’s room too. I think it is brilliant for hotels to give away rubber ducks. I must make it my mission to stay at one or all hotels that giveaway rubber duckies. I am curious if they change the ducky year after year or if it’s always the same style of ducky. I must find out the PR behind the duckies in hotels. I am not sure who started the trend but there are also a few hotels in the US that give away rubber duckies too.

Top Hat Ducky has the Hastings logo on his tuxedo and the website on his bum. His red beak is always smiling and he can tip his black top hat at a moment’s notice.

Fascinated by fastening.

I took Home Economics in highschool but I was a terrible sewer. Even on the sewing machine, I could not sew a straight line. The sunflower and black and white check boxer shorts that I made have one leg longer than the other. I bought satin material to make a skirt and the sewing machine snagged it. I ended up paying a seamstress to finish it for me and she said: “This material is not for beginners.” However, I have always been and still am good at sewing on buttons. I used to make bracelets out of buttons by sewing them onto a thick elastic band. I think that this is what helped me to become an expert button sewer.

My favourite buttons here are the buttons on the far left because they look the most like a rubber ducky. The bubbles are also neat and the plain yellow ducks. The outline duck at the very top looks like the ducks you would see on that old classic duck and goose wallpaper in country kitchens.

Communications Ducky is in a remote, hot, location and is taking cover while he tries to get an important message back to base camp. He has been a Communications Officer for 5 years. He knows a lot about enemy lines and propaganda. He has seen and heard it all.

Since it’s so hot, he is working on his tan and is only wearing his army tank, black boots, and his army green hat. Since we are looking at his underlayer, his dog tags are also visible. His left eye is bigger than his right due to a rifle poking him in the eye.

  I work with cadets.

Army Ducky is sitting on a Dragonfly light in his garden. Dragonflys are his favourite animal. He takes the summer off from work to teach cadets, but he also leaves a few weeks a year to fly to the Caribbean with his wife and twin daughters.

The first bootcamp workout that I ever did was BIlly Blank’s bootcamp. I still have the DVDs. However, I always thought it would be an insane workout to join in during a military workout routine.

I attended the Sonic 1k beer garden run today for the YESS. I had a beer, ran a kilometer (complete with a snow cone, smoke or gravy shot break. I went for the snow cone.) and then had another beer and a burger. It’s a good distance and is for a great cause. People also dress up so it’s quite entertaining.

Air Force Ducky is wearing his headphones and his cool dude shades. He sometimes has to land in discreet locations such as in trees, on mountains in sand etc, but always manages to do a good job. He has quite a few zippered pockets on his military green jacket. He has earned his wings.

Life is full of waves. You just have to know how to ride them.

As US Marines Recruiter Ducky, I go around to high schools all over the US and tell kids why a life in the military is the life for them (bonus: you can buy sweatpants that say Navy across the buttocks). Sometimes the job isn’t pretty but somebody has to do it. You also need to ensure you have what it takes for life on a boat. I practiced in my bath tub on my tugboat and then I knew that I was ready to join the marines.

 Diablo

While we were in Mexico for our friend’s wedding a few years ago, my husband discovered a spicy brand of chips called Diablo. They were addictive so we brought a few bags home for ourselves. There is a shoe store by our house call Diablo and I think of the the chips every time we drive by.

I used to be really into Leopard print but I’m not so much anymore. I used to have leopard print car seat covers, a glass case and other leopard print paraphernalia in my car. The only thing I have left is a seat belt cover. I still use it because it stops the strap from digging into me. Leopard Devil Ducky has a black beak, tail and horns. She is a light tan colour with darker brown and black spots.

There is also a poem on her tag:

I went to the playground with my husband and daughter tonight and then I went for a run on my own. When I returned, it was dark outside and there was a crispness in the air. It feels as though summer is slipping away too early. I hope we have a few more +30 days in us.

This is my last Bath and Body Works ducky, so now my full collection has been blogged about (until I buy more). Mini Magenta Ducky does not have eyelashes (as the other Bath and Body Works ducks do). I know she is not that mini either, but she is compared to the other Bath and Body Works ducks. She has two white dots on the black part of her eyes and she looks as though she could cry at any second. The look in her eyes is a cross between Puss and Boots giving the pity look and a dog begging to be petted.

I played in a Golf tournament with my coworkers and my team placed dead last. When it comes to your golf score, big numbers aren't good. I am much better at mini golf, but I don't really like golfing.

Construction season in Edmonton is from April-November. Most of the routes to downtown are often taken over by construction which can make the journey to work rather challenging. Now that I work from home, I do not miss the rush hour commute.

I have heard that the sign holders in the construction business make lots of money, but I always thought it would be the most boring job in the world. I am attending a family reunion today and I may just need to surf away. Hopefully it will be a fun adventure. It is a 5 hour road trip to get there (not counting stops). I have always wanted to be a surfer and I plan to take lessons one day. I tried once in South Carolina, but I wasn’t very good. I still had fun trying though.

Today is my husband and I’s anniversary for 13 years of dating. Yes, even though we are married we still celebrate our anniversary of dating too. Our first official date was going to the Fringe near Whtye Avenue. This year the Fringe runs from Aug 16-26.

Tattoo Devil Ducky has 9 tattoos. She has 3 on her head. My favourite is the devil ducky on her left cheek that has a number 13 on it. I wonder if there is an actual number 13 devil ducky. The tattoo on the back of her neck is a sword with a banner that says: “Born to be wicked.” She has a star on her right cheek. The rest of her tattoos are randomly placed around her body and consist of the following: dice with a snake, a heart that says mom, skulls, flames and a heart (all on one tattoo), an anchor, a female sea worthy pirate with a sailing ship and a spider web on her tail.

Small towns can often be a haven for finding rubber ducks. Lloydminster is no exception. The Bath Goddess in a little tiny strip mall has tons of rubber duckies. I will warn you that they are a bit pricey considering that most of these rubber ducks are also available from Zydeco gifts, vending machines, Amazon, ebay and directly from the manufacturer for much cheaper. However, if you’re visiting or if you live there, it is nice to pick up new rubber ducks without having to pay for shipping.

The first Zookeeper ducky is wearing a green uniform and has a super happy monkey hanging off his shoulder. The second Zookeeper ducky is dressed a bit more safari like with his safari style hat and he has burgundy trim on his uniform. He prefers to work with the giraffes and elephants and isn’t really a fan of monkeys.

I don’t mean to be a sniffer but Motorcyclist Ducky smells extra rubbery. You can even smell him from a fairly long distance away. He is wearing my least favourite and the least safe motorcycle attire. He has bare wings. I always cringe when I see people dressed in T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops on motorcycles. Yes, it is summer and it’s hot, but what if you wiped out?

Speaking of motorcycle attire, I also can’t stand fringe. I think it makes people look older and it’s just plain ugly. My husband and I have fringe-free motorcycle attire and accessories.

Motorcyclist Ducky also chose an unsafe helmet. His ears and beak are exposed to bugs and the pavement. My husband and I both have helmets that cover our entire face and head.

Most of the Oriental Trading Company brand of ducks come in sets of four and are all fairly similar to fit their theme. I have half of the motorcycle set. The other two ducks in the set were too similar to this duck and the duck for tomorrow’s post.

Bandana Biker Ducky’s right eye is larger than his left eye (due to a bad paint job). His red bandana is tied in a tight knot at the back of his head. It is easy to fit his helmet over the knot. He is wearing a black leather jacket with white trim and a white T-shirt underneath. For some reason he reminds me of the movie Grease.

Speed demon.

What a gorgeous summer holiday Monday. I just returned from the spray park and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I love the smell of summer-the scent of sunscreen and the scent of the water hitting the hot pavement. We had a great time with our friends and now my daughter is enjoying an indoor nap.

Go Cart Ducky loves feeling the summer breeze as he races downhill and goes off jumps with his go cart. He has had some good times with his homemade Go Cart. He made it out of an old red wagon but he added new tires and thrusters on the back. He goes so fast that he can’t see unless he has his goggles over his eyes.

I’m the king of the castle.

Since the first week of sultry summer ducks (I copied sultry summer" from the Southgate billboards. Sultry is a great word that I haven’t heard in a while.) was so successful, I decided to keep them going for another week.

Scuba Ducky is sitting on my daughter’s new pail, which is a cheat for building sand castles since the brickwork of castle blocks is already imprinted into the bucket. There are two versions of Scuba Ducky. In this version, the duck’s scuba mask is fogged up so you can’t see his eyes. However, there is another version of this duck where you can see his eyes through his mask. 

Scuba Ducky scuba dives and snorkels and he has had better luck scuba diving than I have. My husband and I took the PADI course and then I was ill on our first dive during our honeymoon due to food poisoning and extremely rough water. We never completed our PADI certification. I love being in the water but I find it disorienting to go down too far below.

We had a great time tonight at my friend’s Swiss Day barbecue party. Swiss chocolate is sooo good. Summer is all about barbecues and also about weddings. Saturday is a popular wedding day. Last weekend there were two weddings at Ft. Edmonton Park.

The Matrimony Ducks are the first set of wedding ducks that I purchased. Their chubby cheeks make them look like old-fashioned ducks and a bit like chicks. Their beaks are yellow on the outside but the groom has orange trim on the inside of his beak and the bride has pink trim on the inside of hers. The bride is dressed in a tiara made of daisies and pink and blue roses. She has a matching flower sash around her neck. She is so in love with the groom that her pupils are hearts. The groom has a top hat and tux on with blue trim and a daisy corset. Both ducks have platinum wedding bands on their left blushing wings.

I don’t like kids.

My daughter loves walking to the park further away from our house so that we can see kids playing soccer. She loves playing catch and kicking a ball around so one day she may be a soccer player. I never played soccer as a kid. I love running, but there were too many rules involved in soccer and I wasn’t into team sports. Track and Field was my forte.

Soccer Referee Ducky has a black and white jailbird ref shirt and ball cap. He also has a red whistle around his neck and he loves yelling “öff-side.”
