Name: Policeman, Mini Cyclist and Mini Fireman Duckies
Interests: Staying fit and eating healthy.
Where to Find: Elephants Never Forget
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $4.50 for the big one, $2.00 each for the mini ducks

Keeping people safe.

Policeman Ducky is best friends with Mini Cyclist Duck’s Dad, Cyclist Ducky. They went to highschool together and have been friends since that awkward first day of grade 10. They were both super skinny and had lots of zits. They started training for track and field together and have been friends ever since then.

Mini Cyclist Ducky wants to grow up to be just like his Dad, Cyclist Ducky. He has already been in a few triathlons and wants to do tour de France when he is old enough.

Mini Fireman Ducky is wearing a heavy hose around his neck. He has always dreamed of being a fireman. He once put out a fire that he started in a trash can at school. He was still expelled but has always been a bit of pyro. He is trying to be more controlled around fire. He started a really big fire at Boy Scouts and got in trouble for that too. Hi s favourite movie of all time is “Back Draft.”

Where to Find: Toy Stores

Price: $2.00 Cdn each

Spraying, dumping, squirting-spray park!

Colourful Generic Trio Duckies have been friends since preschool and they are all going into grade 6 next year. They love hanging out at the spray parks in the summer. Every day they pack a picnic lunch and go the spray park. They love the spinning palm tree that rains buckets of water on them as they spin it, the turtles that shoot water out of their mouths and the little buckets that pour out a litre of water as soon as they are full. They wish summer could last forever. The purple ducky is a colour changing ducky and turns pink in warm water.

Cyclist Ducky

Name: Cyclist Ducky
Interests: Biking around the world and in various tours.
Where to Find: Elephants Never Forget
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $3.95

3, 403 km - tour de France

As a wee ducky, I rode my sister’s tricycle for my first bike (the bike I am on in the picture). I rode her bike because my family couldn’t afford to buy another tricycle for the boy in the family. Her two wheel bike was red and I had the training wheels off the second time I rode it.

I have always enjoyed biking. I have cycled in the tour de France for the past 3 years. I have also biked in the 6 day Canadian Rockies bike tour. My bike is my transportation and I don’t have an off season. I am always training and always taking my bike somewhere. Next year, he is going to spend 5 years biking around the world.

Camelot Knight, King Arthur, Queen Guinevere and Royal Prince Duck

Name: Camelot Knight, King Arthur, Queen Guinevere and Royal Prince Duck
Interests: Enjoying feasts, balls and watching Game of Thrones
Where to Find: Elephants Never Forget (no longer in business)
Brand: Schylling (middle two) and Toysmith (first and last duck)
Price: $3.50 Cdn each (middle two), $3.00 Cdn (first duck), $2.00 Cdn (last duck)

Knights of the round table.

The first ducky Camelot Knight is rumoured to have had an affair with Queen Guinevere Ducky. Camelot Knight is head of the round table and is King Arthur’s first knight. He is holding a shield and an axe. King Arthur and Queen Guinevere were two of the first 50 or so ducks in my collection. I also purchased them before the Pirates of the Pond because they are an entire dollar cheaper. King Arthur and Queen Guinevere’s Royal Prince son is 10 years old. he has quite the red tongue and sometimes Queen Guinevere Ducky wonders if he looks more like the Camelot Knight or King Arthur.

Every Sunday night the family and of course Camelot Knight watch the Game of Thrones together. They have also read all the books.

Pirates of the Pond Duckies

Name: Pirates of the Pond Duckies
Interests: Swimming, sailing, eating fresh shrimp and flirting with merduckies.
Where to Find: Elephants Never Forget (no longer in business), Old Strathcona Farmer’s market, Why Not (in Alexandria, VA)
Brand: Schylling, Oriental Trading Company, Toysmith
Price: $4.50 Cdn each (first two), $3.00 Cdn, $3.00 US

Quack Matie.

The two pirate duckies on the left are Schylling brand and are from Elephants Never Forget. They are some of the first duckies that I purchased and I used to go to this neat store in the 124th street area in Edmonton quite often for duckies. They also had a large assortment of other toys too. The first ducky in the blue pirate hat is holding a sword in his right wing. The sword matches the sword on his hat. The second ducky is holding a gun in his right wing and is missing his left eye from an accident when he was fighting the first pirate ducky.

The third ducky is the son of the second ducky and he wears a patch on the same eye to look cool like his Dad. He is Oriental Trading Company brand and is from the Old Strathcona Farmer’s market. The last ducky is a squirter pirate ducky for the tub and he wears his eye patch to avoid getting water in his right eye. Each day he changes up which eye the patch is on. He is from the US and I bought him during a business trip.

Watering Can Duckies

Name: Watering Can Duckies
Interests: Playing tricks on other ducks and performing magic
Where to Find: Dollarama, store in the airport in Boston and Ellerslie greenhouse
Brand: Toysmith for the ducky on the far right.
Price: $1.00-$6.00

Happy April fool’s Day!

Our daughter is 2 today! One of her favourite things to do is pour water in the tub, in swimming pools, and to water her plants. Therefore, this post is dedicated to her. I bought the first ducky watering can on the left when I was in the airport in Boston (on my way home from a business trip). This Watering Can Ducky is twins with the can in the middle except the can in the middle has bigger eyes and a red beak instead of orange. The middle can is from Dollarama. I have also seen these same watering cans in Ellerslie greenhouse in yellow and black. I am not sure where the ducky on the far left is from, but my daughter received it as a gift from her Grandpa. It has a hole in the handle for filling it up instead of its head like the other two watering cans. This one is my favourite and the easiest for my daughter to pour out of too.

Rudolph Reindeer Ducky

Name: Rudolph Reindeer Ducky
Interests: Jeepneys, karaoke, and watching American Idol.
Where to Find: Chicken Scratch
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $4.25 Cdn

Just the dot on my beak lights up, not my entire beak.

I know Christmas was a while ago, but I just found this ducky in the basement and I am going to add him to my Christmas ducky box. The bottom of this ducky says that his name is “Dash on Duck” but he is not Dasher. He is clearly Rudolph Reindeer Ducky because there is a red lit on his beak that lights up. He has a holly tattoo to the left of his antler. He is wearing a red scarf and a candy cane necklace.

Rudolph Ducky loves the Philippines. This is why he is riding a Jeepney in the picture.

Peppermint Elf Ducky

Name: Peppermint Elf Ducky
Interests: Collecting toy trains. Playing hide and go seek.
Where to Find: Old Navy
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $5.00 Cdn

“I’m Santa’s favourite helper.”

I purchased Peppermint Elf Ducky and Jolly Santa Ducky (you’ll have to wait until Christmas Day to meet him) a few years ago from Old Navy. I didn’t name these ducks. These are the names that are printed on the bottom of the ducks. Peppermint Elf Ducky says 2006 on the bottom and Jolly Santa Ducky says 2007 on the bottom.

Peppermint Elf Ducky enjoys all types of mints - spearmint, the soft melt in your mouth mints, and chocolate mints. However, his favourite mint is plain ol’ peppermint. The bell collar around his neck makes him look like a jester elf. He is holding a red Christmas ball ornament between his wings. He made this ornament himself.

Witch Ducky from Old Navy

Name: Witch Ducky
Interests: Making soup in cauldrons, flying on my broomstick and playing quittch (look up harry potter game), Casting spells
Where to Find: Old Navy
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $3.00 Cdn

I am a good witch.

I am a witch all year long but I tend to fit in best around Halloween. What kind of spell do you prefer? I only cast positive spells. I have helped people fall in love and I have gotten people all sorts of raises and promotions too.

The best feature that Witch Ducky has is the wart on the left of her beak. She has blue eyes and green hair (permanently green from a spell that she cast). She is wearing a blue dress with a black cape and a navy and black hat that curves to the left.

Pumpkin Ducky from Old Navy

Name: Pumpkin Ducky from Old Navy
Interests: Roasting pumpkin seeds and making pumpkin pies and muffins. I love anything pumpkin. Even the soap I use is pumpkin.
Where to Find: Old Navy
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $3.00 Cdn

Carve me.

I am not sure if they still have them but a few years ago, Old Navy had seasonal rubber ducks. Pumpkin Ducky says 2007 on the bottom. I bought their Halloween and Christmas duckies. We carved our pumpkin tonight and for the past few years we have carved it into the shape of a rubber ducky, but we decided to go more basic this year.

Pumpkin Ducky is all green except for his orange Halloween costume. Every year he carves a fresh pumpkin and wears it as his costume. He loves the smell of pumpkin but sometimes Halloween party attendees get annoyed by his smell. You'll want to go trick or treating at his house because he gives out full size chocolate bars and full size bags of chips.

Sparkly Jelly Duckies from Elephants Never Forget

Name: Sparkly Jelly Duckies
Interests: Being the life of the party. Wearing anything sparkly.
Where to Find: Toysmith retailers such as Amazon
Brand: Toysmith
Price: $7.99 Cdn for all 3

We are see through.

Elephants Never Forget was my favourite store in the 124 street area (besides the Acquired Taste Tea Company which has the best tea). They are no longer in business, but they had a great selection of toys. I visited the store every few months and often found new ducks that I didn’t have.

There are 3 Sparkly Jelly Duckies in the set. The largest ducky in the set is yellow and has an orange beak and pink tongue. The pink baby girl ducky has a yellow beak and a pink tongue. The blue baby boy ducky has a purple beak and a mauve tongue. The pupils of their eyes look like pac man. Each of the ducks are see through and are covered in tiny silver sparkles. They are lightweight and ideal for the bath since they can’t get water inside them. I know squirty ducks are more fun but I worry about the soapy water rotting inside the ducks.

Jumbo Ducky

Name: Jumbo Ducky
Interests: Being ridden
Where to Find: Don't remember
Brand: Toysmith (8 inch bath duck)
Price: $10.95 Cdn

The perfect size for a 2 month old.

Since today is the first day of Spring, I decided to pick Jumbo Ducky as the duck of the day. This photo was taken when my daughter was only 2 months old and she will be 1 in 2 weeks. This duck resides on the edge of our bath tub and floats nicely in our oversized tub. My daughter often picks this duck to join her in the tub.

Jumbo Ducky has been in my collection for quite some time and I only know the price because the sticker was still on the bottom. I can't remember where I bought the duck from. Jumbo Ducky has great big eyes and his beak is parted just enough to look like he is smiling a nice welcome Spring smile.
