While some women may frivolously spend their money on shoes, I frivolously spend my money on rubber ducks. My walk in closet doesn't house pairs of Milano Blahniks or Steve Maddens but my bathroom shelves are overflowing with rubber ducks. If I find a duck that I don’t have, I must have it no matter how much it costs. As of my first a ducky a day blog post on Saturday, February 11, 2012, I had 581 unique rubber ducks (as of May 08, 2017, I have 1100 unique rubber ducks). In 5 years, I have doubled my ducky collection. The most ducks I have are the Oriental Trading Company style and brand because they are the most affordable. As of Oct 31, 2018, I have 1257 duckies.
I am happily married and have 2 daughters and 1 son. I work full-time as a Technical Writer and part-time writing travel articles. Travelling is my forte and I blogged about our 6 month trip around the world (www.serenabeck.com). My husband suggested that I start this blog for duck collectors and duck enthusiasts alike. My husband Colin is a photographer (www.jcolinbeck.com) and took most of the pictures of my rubber ducks.
If you are ever feeling down, just look at a rubber duck and I bet you will smile.
