It’s a dummy!

Don’t panic. The baby in this picture is just a dummy. I would never run over a human. I test cars for the car company Serena, so we have all sizes of dummies that are placed in the cars. I also work part-time as a stunt ducky. In Dangerous Rubber, I was stunt driver for Ducky Andretti I am an adrenaline junky and being a stunt ducky is the the best way to satisfy my rush. When I race my car, I am lucky number 8.

We romanticize bath time.

Outdoors, indoors, on a cake, on a bookshelf, floating in the hot tub, floating in a bubble bath, sitting on the patio table. These are just a few home decor ideas for these duckies. The tiny candle duckies are from the dollar store. I received the coloured floating candle ducky 4-pack as an Easter gift one year. The patio ducky candle is in a terracotta pot and weighs a ton.

The non-candle ducky item in the photo houses the smaller ducky candles. In college, in 2001, my friend Sara made me this ducky box. On the top is my first ever published piece of writing. It is an editorial that was published in the Edmonton Journal.

Oh to be 25 again. Sigh...

Twenty-five was a magical age. I was finished college. I was working full-time as a secretary. I had many boyfriends and lots of jewelry and pretty dresses. The highlight of my week was drinking with my girlfriends and getting our hair and nails done. Those were the good old days.

You must enjoy being young while you can because now I am 75. I have 4 great grandchildren and I pass the time by knitting them all slippers and mittens (when my arthritis isn’t acting up). I still have fun with my girlfriends and I am still the best looking ducky in my nursing home. The boys still like me. However, I can no longer wear plunging necklines and a push up bra can’t push me up like it used to.

In June 2010, during a weekend motorcycle trip to Lake Louise, I found Showering in a Waterfall Ducky in Jasper. He is wearing his shower cap and is holding the shower head. I love the perimeter of bubbles all around him.

Showering in a Waterfall Ducky loves waterfalls. He has been to Niagara falls and he quite likes Athabasca falls. He prefers tiny waterfalls so that he can shower in them and the only water he drinks is from waterfalls. He has never been sick from drinking glacier fed or snow fed waterfalls.

We are accident prone.

I know I paid way too much money for these overpriced Oriental Trading Company duckies, but at the time I hadn’t seen these duckies before and I had a gift card for the store too (at least that is how I like to justify it). These duckies are quite the accident prone set. I will explain from left to right how each of the duckies became injured.

The first ducky Bandage ducky rammed his belly into the handles of his snowmobile while going over a jump. The second ducky Broken arm ducky broke his arm snowboarding. He fell on it after doing a jump. The third ducky broke her legs and hit her head in a car racing crash. Her nickname is crash. The fourth ducky Full Body Cast ducky fell off a mountain and is very lucky to still be alive.

Nowadays, graduation ceremonies are plentiful for every grade and achievement. Soap on a Rope Ducky

My rope is thick and sturdy.

I have seen rubber ducky bath beads, bath bombs, soap, candles and loofahs, but this is the only ducky soap that I have ever seen on a rope. You can hang him in your shower or your tub. There are many jokes out there about soap on a rope and Soap on a Rope Ducky has heard them all. The benefit of hanging up your soap as opposed to letting it sit in a soap dish is that it dries properly and doesn’t get mushy and filmy.

Soap on a Rope Ducky believes a working up a good lather is important for hygiene (especially during cold and flu season).

I love shopping in boutiques and I found this ducky in a cute children’s boutique in Sherwood Park. Glass Cake Topper Candle Holder Ducky holds 1 candle. However, you could use her for more than just a child’s first birthday by adding other candles too. 

She has quite the knowing look on her face because she just took a huge bite of cake and has it squirreled away in her cheeks like a chipmunk. She is also looking at you out of the corner of her eyes. In the picture, she is sitting on top an angel food cake and she said they are great cakes to jump on.

I am safe for babies to drool on.

On Sunday, Feb 10, 2013, we were heading from a baby baptism back to the reception when I decided to stop into Creative Scrapbooks to see if they had blades for my paper cutter and they did. They also had monkey scrapbook paper and ducky scrapbook paper too. To my surprise, they even had one rubber ducky for sale. She was rather expensive, but elegantbaby has a whole line of different rubber duckies and I own a few of them.

My First Rubber Ducky Princess Ducky is BPA, Phthalate and lead free. She has two pink polka dots on her cheeks that look like blush and she has orange and pink polka dots all over the rest of her body. She is wearing a pink princess crown.

There are a lot of fancy USB keys in Japan. Think of them as jewelry for your computer because none of them hold any data. They just look pretty. In addition to rubber ducks, there were dogs and cats. The dogs were not in a flattering position and were doing something that wasn’t very nice to your computer. Of course, no one would do that to a friendly little innocent ducky.

USB Light up Ducky from Tokyo looks like he is the same brand as this ducky from Chicken Scratch. They are twins.

Stuck in a mug Ducky was one of the first non-rubber ducky items that I purchased. This ducky is just so cute that I couldn’t resist. It’s a nice oversized mug and as you can see from the picture there is even rubber ducky kleenex stuffed in the mug and a ducky bookmark from the Philippines sticking up in the back. I wondered why the brand name Ganz sounded familiar and it’s because I have a soap ducky that is Ganz brand.

Lime and Turquoise Light up Duckies from Bath and Body Works

“I’ll brighten up your bathtime.”

In January this year, I bought these two light up duckies from Bath and Body Works. They are a bit pricey in my opinion since they are smaller than the standard size Bath and Body Works ducks. However, they are such bright shiny spring colours that I just had to have them for my collection. The lime green is one of my favourite shades of green. The turquoise ducky reminds me of the Aegan sea in Greece. I want to retire to Greece one day.

These duckies are sealed well at the bottom so they can go in the bathtub with you. However, once the lights or batteries burn out, you can’t open the bottom of the duck to replace them.

The tiny yellow duckies are from my broken Floaty duck objects. I am not sure where the frosted ducky or the clear glass duckies came from.

Ceramic Sponge Holder Ducky has a tragic tale. I bought him on Whyte Ave and he has happily sat on the back of my kitchen sink. However, a year ago, we had a kitten who jumped onto the counter every now and then and tried to get into the kitchen sink for a drink of water. He jumped up and Ceramic Sponge Holder Ducky fell into the sink. He smashed into a few pieces but my dad was able to glue him back together. He resembles Ernie’s rubber ducky.

Unfortunately, there is a tragic story behind my kitten Zuko as well. He passed away at a year old of congenital heart failure.

Be Mine Ducky was hatched one day before Valentine's Day. She was struck by You’re Mine Arrow and they have been dating for a few years. There is a candy heart on her bum that says "More love" and a few ducks have tried to bite her bum to get a taste. She has a bob style hair cut and she flips the ends out with her round brush. There is even a heart barrette in her hair. She has red eyes and a red beak. Her skin is pink. At one time wearing pink and red together was a fashion faux pas but I don't think that is the case anymore. If you look closely at this ducky, you will see that her body is in the shape of a heart and she has her tail tucked in.

At last count, she had 29 polka dots on her body. She is outgoing and loves to drink bellinis and dance. She is also currently single.

He received an elbow to the head and is now considering adding a visor to his helmet.

Today is the one year anniversary of my blog! I posted 365 days of a ducky a day. Thanks to my husband, my daughter and all my readers for your support. I still have another year or two worth of duckies to blog (not including new purchases along the way). Happy ducky collecting and even if you’re not a ducky collector, it is still nice to have at least one ducky in your bathroom.

I love Harlequin romance novels.

I once lit over a 100 candles in our pond and each one was floating on its own lily pad. We were quite the talk of the community. The frogs weren’t impressed with us.

She has 13 lucky white hearts painted on the outside of her body. If you look deeply into her eyes you can see the moon and a star. Her beak is a slightly darker shade of red than the rest of her body and she has really tiny shelf-like wings. She has a very strong squeaker that can be heard from far away.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I will be showcasing all my Valentine’s duckies this week and next. There are a lot of different Valentine’s Day duckies and I am sure that I don’t even own half of the Valentine’s duckies that exist.

The red sweetheart ducky is the bow. He is raising his eyebrows at the girl ducky. The white ducky is the girl. She is wearing red beak stick and is batting her blue eyes at the boy.

However, this mommy has 2 teenager duckies and 3 baby duckies and all 5 of her children are different ages and were not born in a litter of ducklings..

I think that these ducks were carved in Mexico out of some sort of stone. Does anyone know the name of the stone? I have a set of wind chimes that are made out of the same material. My parents bought me the set in Cozumel.

Hut!

I am in the process of cleaning out the basement (winter cleaning instead of Spring cleaning) and I was shredding a whole bunch of receipts when I came across a receipt for 20 Rubba Ducks that I bought. I got them on sale at a Toy R us in Costa Mesa, California (during a work business trip). I am sure I looked a bit suspicious as a 21 year old going through customs with a duffel bag full of rubber ducks (no the ducks were not filled with anything). It was a great deal and the most Rubba Ducks I ever bought at one time.

Anyway, Duckskin Ducky was one of the ducks in that set that I purchased. He was born on April 20 and has a gold football goal post on his tail. He is chocolate brown and his entire body is covered in bumpy football grip dots. He also has white football laces going up the front of him.

Super Bowl Ducks

We have artsy eyes.

I don’t usually watch the Super Bowl, but when I’ve gone to Super Bowl parties, I am mostly there for the company, food and the commercials (in that order). I don’t mean to be rude to the Super Bowl Ducks, but neither of them look very smart. The Cheerleader Ducky has rather droopy drawn on eyes, but she has nice pink lips and a red scrunchie in her pony tail. She is used to cheering on cold days so that is why she is wearing a turtleneck under her cheer uniform. She is holding a blue pom pom in her left wing and a red pom pom in her right wing.

Football Ducky is wearing a red, white and blue uniform (American colours) and he has black smudges under his eyes too. Apparently these smudges serve to reduce the glare. I would think sunglasses would do the trick too or a visor on helmets but I guess that wouldn’t be very safe. He has the football in his left wing and he is about to be tackled.

She has a purple Queen’s crown on her tail (since she is destined to become Queen Ducky). She is an only child. She was hatched on June 23 and her father (P. King) taught her to fence and use a sword.

Look at the people.

Lions, Tigers and Zebras oh my Ducks are the second half of the Safari ducky set. There are 6 duckies in total. I ordered these sets for the goody bags at my daughter’s second birthday party. I am having a monkey’s picnic themed party. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Lion Ducky has an orange curly mane and he even lets people pet him. However, as soon as they touch him, he roars and quacks to scare them. Zebra Ducky loves humans and prefers to sleep laying down in king size beds with a polyester blanket tucked up to his chin. Tiger Ducky can bounce just like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. He is friendly and prefers to curl up on people’s couches or kitchen tables.
