If you’ve never been to Octoberfest, I highly recommend travelling to Munich, Germany to experience the festivities. You must also get a seat at a table in one of the tents, so you can experience the song, dance and cheering. While we were in Munich for Octoberfest 2009, we met up with a couchsurfing group and shared a table with the group. I wish we would have dressed up but with our trip around the world we would have had to have had the costume with us or would have had to leave it in Germany. We still had a great time but would have felt a bit more festive if we had the dress too. After our night of drinking, we went out for the best German brunch the next day. It was one of my favourite breakfasts on our trip.
Ducktoberfest was hatched on October 03 and he is wearing lederhosen (the traditional male dress for Octoberfest complete with suspenders). He is also wearing a robin hood style hat. He has old pint glass of beer on his bum. The mug looks like it is fit for a king to drink out of it because it has a silver top on it. It looks medieval.
Ducktoberfest Ducky is still feeling the affects of the seven 1 litre pints of beer that he consumed today, so he is walking off his buzz around the playground. Octoberfest is over for 2012 but he is practising his beer drinking for 2013.
Poem on his tag:
“Where’s your lederhosen
and your liter of cheer?
We’re celebrating the Wies’n [short for Octoberfest]
it only happens once a year.
With international flavor
and harvest festival fun
this German tradition
needs to be heard and sung.”
